Writing in nature workshops

“I was inspired to get more descriptive with my writing and to think from an environmental point of view. We have to change and it’s not fast enough.”
– workshop participant
Jessica offers accessible workshops that involve walking/rolling and writing in nature. These can be tailored to particular places and types of participants.
A mixture of writing workshop, walking and mindfulness, these sessions draw on Professor Miles Richardson’s work on nature connectivity and ideas of poetic listening and serious noticing.
The original workshop was developed with Southampton University and Artful Scribe and has since been adapted for Margate Bookie Literary Festival, a workshop with Maggie Harris at Morrab Gardens in Cornwall and Rooted in Place, Travelling in Time with Jawbone Collective.
Rooted in Place – Travelling in Time feedback
Here’s what participants had to say about a July 2026 workshop with Jawbone Collective at Othons, Dorset. We asked: What have you taken from the session? What one word would you use to describe how you feel?
Nourished, thoughtful, inspired, finding my voice, extraordinary journey for me, bursts from being outside, up close and personal with nature, profitable, creative energy, inspired and grateful, loved being with like-minded people who value the page, getting off the rollercoaster ride and slowing down, delightful hearing such lovely poetry, hearing everyone’s words, seeds, butterflies, how powerful communication is, poetry curious, depth, authenticity, immersion, the objective was to stop my pilot light going out but it’s increased in size!
